Sis, You Deserve to Rest Without Guilt

Sis, You Deserve to Rest Without Guilt

As Black women, we’ve been praised for our strength for generations—but rarely encouraged to rest. We carry our families, our communities, our jobs, and our ministries on our backs. But strength without restoration leads to burnout. God never intended for you to run on empty. In fact, Jesus Himself rested (Mark 6:31).

This message isn’t just about taking a nap. It’s about reclaiming rest as a radical act of self-love, a spiritual commandment, and a lifestyle. The truth is, society will never stop demanding from you. That’s why setting your own rhythm and honoring your limits is so powerful.

Here are three practical ways to reclaim your rest:

  1. Schedule it like a meeting – Put your name on your calendar. Treat rest like it matters—because it does.
  2. Redefine productivity – Productivity is not just output. Peace, alignment, and joy are equally valid outcomes.
  3. Start small – A 10-minute window of silence, prayer, or deep breathing can ground your spirit and restore your energy.

Sis, you were not created to live in survival mode. Your worth isn’t in your work. Let rest become your rebellion and your rhythm.
